So I’ve decided on The Rolling Stones this week. Their first album, 1964’s “The Rolling Stones” is brimming with the early Rock ‘n Roll vibe. It’s not quite the Beatles-esq clean cut, family friendly music everyone was into in the 50’s.
It’s easy to see them developing their own unique sound on the fast paced opener “Route 66”. The album takes a turn to a few slower, more mellow, more moody songs toward the middle, and ends with the timeless “Walking The Dog”. It’s interesting to note, the longest song on the album is less than 4:00, with most of them being around 2:30; much shorter than anything these days.
